After being suspended for a period of three weeks by Cover Corp's agency Hololive Production, Virtual YouTuber Akai Haato and Kiryu Coco resumed their activities today. Both posted updates on the situation on their respective Twitter accounts.

Kiryu Coco wrote: “This is Kiryu Coco and as of today I will be resuming my activities. From September 25 to today I have not had the opportunity to explain the problem in my own words. Just let me tell you how I truly feel. The expression I used during my broadcast had no political intention, in fact Kiryu Coco has no political ideology as an individual. I am sorry for having made some of my fans feel bad due to my ignorance. The only thing I can do from now on is increase my knowledge and interest in such matters more than ever, while continuing to create content for you. I hope they continue to support Kiryu Coco in the future. "

On the other hand, Akai Haato wrote: “For everyone, today, Akai Haato will resume her activities. I apologize to all the fans and fellow VTubers for the inconvenience I caused due to my lack of care, and really appreciated the entire audience who awaited my return. I hope to continue counting on your support ".

The Kiryu Coco and Akai Haato live broadcasts that led to their suspension originally included a segment in which they revealed their channel's audience demographics. Akai Haato's live broadcast is currently listed as “Private,” while Kiryu Coco's broadcast was cut until 2:47 am on file. The video comments infer that during the six minutes of the deleted footage, Coco commented on her audience demographics by region, with YouTube listing Taiwan and China as independent regions.

Proponents of the "One China" principle seeking the reunification of Taiwan and China as a single sovereign state took this as an insult to their stance, while supporters of the Taiwan independence movement quickly jumped to the Virtual YouTuber's defense.

Finally, Cover Corp was founded in 2016, and the Hololive Production project was established in 2017. Almost 50 Virtual YouTubers are currently affiliated with this project, according to the company's website, and the combined number of subscribers on YouTube is around the 4.4 million, and 4 million in Bilibili.
