Through his official Twitter account, the mangaka Sui Ishida (author of the manga Tokyo Ghoul) announced that he has finished the drafts of his new manga, which will be titled Choujin X (Superhuman X). The author revealed a promotional image for this new work.

For his part, Ishida began publishing the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in September 2011 and completed it in September 2014, with a total of 14 volumes. Subsequently, he published a direct sequel entitled Tokyo Ghoul:re in the same magazine between October 2014 and July 2018, with 16 volumes.

The overall franchise inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Pierrot Studios, under the direction of Shuhei Morita, and scripts written by Chuuji Mikasano, released in July 2014. A second season of twelve episodes entitled Tokyo Ghoul √A was released in January 2015. Finally, Tokyo Ghoul:re was compiled entirely into a 24-episode series (broadcast in two separate halves) released in April 2018.

Synopsis of Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo has become a cruel and ruthless city, a place where fierce creatures known as "ghouls" live together with humans. The citizens of this once great metropolis live in constant fear of these bloodthirsty, flesh-hungry savages. However, the greatest threat posed by these ghouls is their dangerous ability to pose as humans and blend into society.

The story then follows Ken Kaneki, a shy college student who is instantly attracted to Rize Kamishiro, an avid reader like himself. However, Rize is not exactly what he seems, and this unfortunate encounter pushes Kaneki into the dark depths of the inhumane world of the ghouls. In a twist of fate, Kaneki is saved by the enigmatic waitress Touka Kirishima, and thus begins his new secret life as a half ghoul/half human, having to integrate into both societies.
