Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen surpasses 36.8 billion yen in profit

The film Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen fell back to second place in weekly box office grossing in Japan in terms of tickets sold on its 16th weekend, after two weeks having dominated in first place. The film sold 105,000 tickets this past weekend alone for a cumulative gross of 168,764,100 yen (about $ 1.60 million).




This means that the feature film now has a total accumulated gross of 36,884,239,450 yen (about 351.6 million dollars). After twelve consecutive weeks dominating at the box office, the film fell to second place on its 13th weekend, being temporarily overtaken by Gintama: The Final. Just a week later, the movie took the top spot again. On this weekend, the film that took the first position was the live-action drama Hanataba Mitaina Koi wo Shita.


The film opened in Japanese theaters on October 16, achieving the highest grossing at the global box office in its opening weekend. The film recently surpassed the acclaimed Studio Ghibli production Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away), becoming the highest grossing film in Japanese history.

Tanjirou Kamado and his friends from the Demon Hunter Corps accompany the Pillar of Fire, Kyoujurou Rengoku, on a mission to investigate a series of disappearances that occur inside a train. Little do they know that Enmu, one of the members of the Twelve Demon Moons, is also on board and has set a trap for them.
