With the conclusion of the first part of the anime adaptation of Tatsuya Endo 's manga , SPY x FAMILY , the equivalence of episodes against chapters of the original manga in the official Wiki of the franchise has finally been completed, and in this article we will collect that information more some interesting data listed through the same source.

Let us remember that with this article we will then answer the question: Which chapters of the original SPY x FAMILY manga were adapted to anime to date? .

  • Episode 1 – Chapter 1 (pages 5 – 70).
    • In the manga, Anya hides under a table, while in the anime, Anya hides under a coffee shop sign.
    • In the anime, the Forgers' first residence is directly across from the stairs, while in the manga, the residence is down the hall.
    • In the manga, Anya falls off the couch when Loid wakes up, while in the anime she lies down.
  • Episode 2 – Chapter 2.
    • No annotations.
  • Episode 3 – Chapter 1 (pages 1 -3), Chapter 3.
    • The sequence where Yor arrives at the Forger residence and is shown around the house by Anya and Loid before the practical interview has been extended compared to the manga. Loid also asks Yor an additional question in the practical interview.
    • After the museum visit, there are new scenes of Anya drawing in the children's area, as well as the Forgers stopping at the tailor shop and then going to a photo studio to take a family photo.
    • The family photo Loid, Yor and Anya take in this episode first appears properly in chapter 25 of the manga, with Bond in it. That photo, in turn, is based on the cover photo of chapter 2.
  • Episode 4 – Chapter 4, Chapter 5.
    • In the manga, just before entering the interview, Loid mentions that he is more nervous than the time he stopped a nuke with a second to spare. In the anime, both the visuals and dialogue are changed to simply say that he stopped a missile launch, removing mention of the word "nuclear." The English dub undoes this change, saying that Loid stopped a nuclear missile launch.
  • Episode 5 – Chapter 6.
    • Twilight's redacted profile seen on a screen in this episode is the same profile from the end of Volume 1.
    • Yor's imaginary scenario of killing a student's father as Thorn Princess to get Anya into Eden Academy is changed for the anime. While in the manga she attacks "Zachary Feiss" in a crowded room and kills several people before stabbing him, in the anime the scene takes place in an office, with only Feiss and Thorn Princess .
    • Loid's training that allows him to drink as much as he wants without getting drunk is not mentioned or discussed.
    • The bad omen scene at the beginning of the episode was added for the anime.
    • Anya's ritual dance to enter Eden was added for the anime.
    • The castle sequence of this chapter has been greatly expanded for the anime. A scene has been added where the castle is reached by plane, and there is an entirely new sequence where “Loidman” saves Princess Anya and confronts the rest of the WISE agents before an extended fight against a drunken Yor. .
  • Episode 6 – Chapter 7, Chapter 8.
    • In the anime, Damian was added in the picture taking scene.
  • Episode 7 – Chapter 9, Chapter 10.
    • No annotations .
  • Episode 8 – Chapter 11, Chapter 12.
    • The emblem of the State Security Service does not bear the name or initials of the organization.
    • The anime does not mention that the photos of the "love marriage kit" are fake.
    • In the manga, Yuri wears orchids, while in the anime she wears roses. The main image of this episode does show him with orchids.
    • Loid states that he would protect Yor against bullets and nukes in the manga, while in the anime he says he would protect Yor against spears and meteorites.
  • Episode 9 – Chapter 13, Chapter 14.
    • Continuing the change from the previous episode, the secret police card that Twilight shows Yor in disguise does not have the initials of the State Security Service, only the emblem.
  • Episode 10 – Short Mission 4 – Chapter 15.
    • Part of the beginning of the episode is an adaptation of "Short Mission 4" with some changed dialogues, since in the manga this mission came after the midterms.
    • The scene of Damian looking at the photo in episode 6 (which itself deviates from the manga by adding it), and the one with Emile and Ewen looking at a yearbook, are original to the anime.
    • The footage of Yor training Anya for the game is original. In the manga, Yor's training is only mentioned briefly right before Anya throws the ball to Bill. Some of the dialogue shown at that point in the manga is carried over into the anime right after Anya tells Loid and Yor about the dodgeball game.
    • All the scenes showing the story of Bill and his father are original.
    • The flashbacks of Damian, Emile and Ewen preparing and training for the match, as well as all of their practiced moves that fail to hit Bill are original. The scene where Emile and Ewen are eliminated by Bill is also extended.
  • Episode 11 – Chapter 16, Chapter 17.
    • When Yor imagines the dogs hurting Anya, the blood effects in the manga are replaced with pink flash effects, probably for censorship reasons.
  • Episode 12 – Extra Mission 1, Short Mission 1.
    • The cold opening featuring the Lady of the Subway is exclusive to the anime.
    • During the previous episodes, Anya's door sign shows "ANIA" as her spelling. From this episode she changed to “ANYA”.
    • Madhouse Inc. participated in the production of this episode.

The first part of the series, which covers the first twelve episodes, premiered on April 9 in Japan, while the Crunchyroll platform handles its distribution in the West, also including a Latin Spanish dub. For his part, Tatsuya Endo began publishing the manga through Shueisha 's Shonen Jump Plus website in March 2019.

Synopsis for SPY x FAMILY

For the agent known as “Twilight”, no order is too high if it is for the sake of peace. Operating as Westalis's master spy, Twilight works tirelessly to prevent extremists from unleashing a war with neighboring Ostania. For his latest mission, he must investigate Ostanian politician Donovan Desmond by infiltrating his son's school: the prestigious Eden Academy. Thus, the agent faces the most difficult task of his career: getting married, having a child and playing family.

Twilight, or “Loid Forger”, quickly adopts humble orphan Anya to play the role of a six-year-old daughter and prospective Eden Academy student. As a wife, she meets Yor Briar, an absent-minded office worker who needs a pretend partner to impress her friends. However, Loid is not the only one with a hidden nature. Yor is actually the deadly assassin “Thorn Princess” and for her, marrying Loid creates the perfect cover. Meanwhile, Anya is not the ordinary girl she appears to be; she is an esper, the product of secret experiments that allow her to read minds. Though she discovers her true identities, Anya is thrilled that her new parents are cool secret agents! She would never tell them, of course. That would spoil the fun.
