On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Makoto Akui , Ao no Orchestra ( Blue Orchestra ), the first promotional image of the project was published. The press release confirmed that the premiere is scheduled for the Spring-2023 season (April-July) in Japan.
Jun Sakata , producer of the project, commented on this: “ Ao no Orchestra is a coming of age story in which the frustrated protagonist becomes fascinated by the world of the orchestra and grows up together with his friends. By firmly depicting both drama and musical performance in a way that only animation can do, I want to convey the passionate message of youth - [get excited about something and dedicate yourself to it] and [have the courage to overcome failures and setbacks] - in a direct way ».
Akui began publishing the manga through Shogakukan 's Manga One digital service in April 2017. Previously, Akui was in charge of the manga adaptation of the feature film Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda ( The Anthem of the Heart ), published between July 2015 and July 2016 in Japan.
Synopsis for Ao no Orchestra
Aono Hajime was a prodigious violinist until he grew tired of playing the violin for personal reasons. Now in his third year of high school, he struggles to decide on his academic path. One day at school, he meets Akine Ritsuko, a hot-headed rookie violinist who wants to enroll in a high school with a distinguished orchestra club. As he grows closer to Ritsuko and is returned to the world of violinists, time begins to move for him again. This is the beginning of a youth drama where sounds and hearts resonate in harmony.
