The Twin Engine production company announced that the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Kore Miyazaki , Mahoutsukai no Yome ( The Ancient Magus' Bride ), will have a second season that will premiere in April 2023 in Japan. The new season will be broadcast on the Tokyo MX and BS11 television stations, as well as on the Amazon Prime Video and Hikari TV platforms. The anime will adapt the "University Arc" from the original manga, which began in May 2018.

In addition to a promotional image, illustrations were made by author Kore Yamazaki , director Kazuaki Terasawa , and animation director Kouhei Takuoka to celebrate this announcement.

Yamazaki began serialization of the manga in Mag Garden 's Monthly Comic Blade magazine in November 2013, and moved it to Monthly Comic Garden magazine in September 2014, where it is still running. The publisher published the seventeenth compilation volume on March 10, followed by the eighteenth on September 9 in Japan.

Sinopsis de Mahoutsukai no Yome

Chise Hatori, a 15-year-old Japanese girl, was sold for five million pounds at auction to a tall masked gentleman. Abandoned at a young age and ridiculed by her peers for her unconventional behavior, she was willing to give herself up to any buyer if it meant having a place to return to. Chained up and on her way to an unknown destination, she listens to the whispers of robed men in her path, gossiping and complaining that such a buyer snagged a rare "Sleigh Beggy."

Ignoring the murmurs, the mysterious man leads the girl into a study, where he reveals himself to be Elias Ainsworth, a magician. After a brief confrontation and some teleportation magic, the two open their eyes to Elias's quaint country home in rural England. Greeted by fairies and surrounded by weird and wonderful beings upon her arrival, these events mark the beginning of Chise's story as an apprentice and supposed bride to the ancient mage.
