Through a press release it was announced that the manga written and illustrated by Iro Aida , Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun ( After-School Hanako-kun ), will be adapted to anime in a format of short episodes that will air for four weeks at starting next October 12 in Japan.
This manga is a spin-off of the popular Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun ( Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun ) franchise, but it is not the previously announced project. Let's remember that the anime will have a "reconstruction", if that is the correct term, the details of which have not yet been announced. This was announced in December 2022, but no further details about it have been revealed to date.
Aida began publishing the manga in Square Enix 's Monthly G Fantasy magazine in June 2014. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Lerche studios , directed by Masaomi Andou and scripts written by Yasuhiro Nakanishi , released in January 2020.
According to reviews from insiders of the original franchise, the anime adaptation ended in the middle of chapter 36. However, it is better to start the manga from the beginning, because the anime skips some chapters/panels and changes the order of the same.
