In a recent statement on the official Discord of the
video game “ Snowbreak:
Containment Zone ” , it was reported that the English
voice actors have decided not to return to the game due to the fanservice it
presents. Despite Seasun's attempts to contact the actors to restore
the English dub, the refusal was categorical, as they consider that the game
has changed its direction towards fanservice.
“Snowbreak: Containment Zone” is
a gacha game that combines RPG and shooter elements in a 3D science fiction
environment. The game offers a next-generation, cross-platform gaming
experience, allowing players to share their progress across all their devices.
The story takes place in a city that has become a devastated wasteland known
as Containment Zone Aleph . Players must carry out missions
alongside Manifestations, beings with divine powers and unique personalities,
with the goal of putting an end to this harsh winter.
Last year, Seasun decided to remove the
English dub after evaluating player preferences, concluding that the majority
preferred to listen to the game in Japanese. However,
as the game has grown in popularity, the company attempted to reinstate the
English voice actors, who ultimately refused due to the game's fanservice
content.
Fan reaction to this news has been mixed. Some
have been indifferent, while others have celebrated the decision, arguing that
voice actors were “filtered” or “excluded” from the hobby. This division
reflects a growing schism in anime and manga fandoms, between traditional fans
and those who reject fanservice and other characteristic elements of the
medium.
In the statement, Seasun thanked the
community for their understanding and mentioned that, at the moment, there are
no plans to reintroduce English dubbing to the game. The
current situation highlights the tension between the evolution of video game
content and the expectations and values of actors and fans:
- « Seasun
attempted to contact the voice actors to restore English dubbing in the
game due to the current state of improvement of Snowbreak: Containment
Zone. However, they refused because the game has changed its direction
towards fanservice. So, at the moment, there are no plans to bring back
the English dub. Thank you for your understanding ," the
statement wrote.
“Snowbreak: Containment Zone” remains a
standout title within the gacha gaming genre, with a global community that
continues to grow despite these challenges. The
company is committed to continuing to improve the game and providing a
high-quality experience for all its players.
- « I'm
pretty sure that many lewdtubers are waiting for the opportunity to become
voice actresses. Someone is overestimating the work .
- " They
really want them replaced so soon ."
- « Well,
be careful closing the door when you leave, you shitty activists .»
- « Of
course no one cares about English voice actors, no one! ».
- " Oh
great, I'm finally interested in this video game again ."
- " These
are not professional people if they are more interested in the content of
the video game than in doing their damn job ."
- " Replace
them with an AI, that's what they say ."
- « For
those who are not familiar with this game. When it was released it didn't
have any fanservice, but when the voice actors were thrown out to reduce
costs, the game was clearly not succeeding. Some time later they took a
more aggressive approach to fanservice and this happened .
- « If
a game only has fanservice as a selling point, why bother playing it when
porn already exists and is free? ».
- " Oh
god, what a bunch of losers, no one is going to miss them ."
