Yoshihiro Togashi ,
author of the “ HUNTER
x HUNTER ” manga, posted an update through his official Twitter
account for the first time in seven months since October 2023, reporting the
progress of drafts of upcoming chapters of the manga.
The last published chapter of “HUNTER x HUNTER” was Chapter
400 in December 2022, and the author reported on Twitter that he is
already working until Chapter 405 . Although this news was well
received by fans, certainly some are already starting to get fed up with the author
only saying that he is “still working”, but he has not been able to release any
chapters in almost eighteen months.
The serialization of “HUNTER x HUNTER” was
suspended again after the publication of Chapter 400 in December 2022. The
publisher Shueisha reported at the time, apologizing to readers and explaining
that the serialization “would change to a different format than the weekly ”.
Despite this, the manga still has a space in Weekly Shonen Jump that
could well be occupied by another author who can publish his work as required
by the magazine.
At the time, the publisher also stated that Togashi would
continue working on the manga until its conclusion. Later, in an update
published in March 2023, it was reported that Chapter 401 was already in its
final stages of production, although a new publication format on which “HUNTER
x HUNTER” would be worked on from now on had not yet been established.
Yoshihiro Togashi's “HUNTER x HUNTER” series has seen
numerous suspensions over the years, primarily due to the author's health
issues. Togashi has faced chronic health problems that have affected
his ability to maintain a regular publishing schedule. These health
problems have been attributed to a variety of factors, including stress and
fatigue related to the demands of creative work and the pressure to meet
deadlines.
In addition to Togashi's health problems, the
complexity of the plot and detailed art of “HUNTER x HUNTER” have also
contributed to the pauses in its publication. Togashi is known
for his meticulous approach to crafting the story and art, which may require
more time than usual to produce each chapter.
The combination of these factors has led to
“HUNTER x HUNTER” being constantly suspended, with extended periods between new
chapter updates. Although fans have expressed frustration
over these pauses, they have also shown understanding and support towards
Togashi, prioritizing his health and well-being.
