Kaiju No. 8 anime confirms a sequel

Following the airing of today’s final episode, a new sequel to the anime adaptation of the “ Kaiju No. 8 ” manga was announced to be in production. The release did not reveal what this sequel is about, but a previous leak already confirmed that it is a second season .

Although a scheduled premiere date has not been revealed, it is possible that more information about it will be revealed during the Anime Expo 2024 event, to be held next week in the United States. On the other hand, it was also revealed that Kouki Uchiyama will play Gen Narumi , the enigmatic and unstoppable captain of the First Division

The first season of the anime aired during Spring 2024 (April-June) and had a total of twelve episodes. On the other hand, Naoya Matsumoto began publishing the manga through Shueisha 's Shonen Jump Plus service in July 2020. The author previously wrote other works such as " Pochi Kuro ", " Metallica Metalluca ", " Neko Wappa! ", among others.

Sinopsis of Kaiju No. 8

Grotesque, Godzilla-like monsters called “kaijuu” have been appearing in Japan for many years. To combat these beasts, an elite military unit known as the Defense Corps risks their lives on a daily basis to protect civilians. Once a creature dies, “sweepers,” working under the Kaijuu Professional Cleaning Corporation, are left to dispose of its remains. Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old man, is dissatisfied with his job as a sweeper. From a young age, he has aspired to join the Defense Corps and kill kaijuus for a living.

However, after a few failed attempts, he abandoned his dreams and resigned himself to mediocrity that provided him with a decent paycheck. However, when an ambitious 18-year-old recruit named Leno Ichikawa joins his cleaning crew, Kafka is once again reminded of his desire to join the military. After a chain of unfortunate events and an interaction with the young sweeper, Kafka encounters a parasitic-type kaijuu that burrows its way through his mouth, turning him into a humanoid monster. With his newfound powers, Kafka aims to give his lifelong dream one last try.
