The Anime!Anime! website has revealed the results of its latest annual survey, which sought to find out which anime songs are the most popular at karaoke. The survey, titled “ What anime song gets you going at karaoke the most? ”, was conducted in commemoration of the anniversary of the founding of the National Karaoke Operators Association in Japan. Since karaoke is a very popular and Japanese-origin activity, it’s common for anime fans to enjoy singing opening themes, insert songs, or even character songs from their favorite series , generating an atmosphere of enthusiasm among friends and colleagues.

The most notable result was that for the fifth consecutive year, the opening theme song for the classic anime “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” titled “A Cruel Angel's Thesis,” performed by Yoko Takahashi, was crowned the most popular song at karaoke. Its popularity not only persists among long-time fans of the series, but continues to resonate with new generations, who recognize the impact of this work on anime culture and entertainment in general.

The relationship between anime and karaoke has long been a fundamental part of leisure in Japan, and songs like the one from Evangelion demonstrate how some musical pieces have become true anthems for fans. Although hundreds of anime songs are released every year, the classics continue to dominate the public's preferences, creating a perfect mix of nostalgia and emotion in karaoke sessions.
