Carlo Zen , best known for his work on The Saga of Tanya the Evil , has launched a new manga series with Issei Hatsuyoshiya , illustrator of Cells at Work! Code Black . The new project is titled Hoshinaki Sekai no Annainin (Guides in a World Without Stars), and debuted on Thursday, May 9 in Kodansha 's digital magazine Morning two .

The story revolves around a fictional destination management agency called Destination Management Company , which offers food lovers personalized, guided dining experiences, helping them discover unique flavors in a world without stars.

A duo with experience in complex worlds

This new manga combines Zen's profound narrative style with Hatsuyoshiya's expressive illustrations, promising a work that blends science fiction, exploration, and culinary art. The premise aims to reflect on the meaning of travel and food in a world devoid of light—literally and metaphorically.

Carlo Zen is known for creating Yojo Senki (The Saga of Tanya the Evil) , a series of military-inspired, dark fantasy light novels illustrated by Shinobu Shinotsuki , which had an anime adaptation premiered in January 2017. The series also had a film that premiered in Japan in February 2019 , and arrived in the United States in May of the same year through Crunchyroll.

From the military to the gastronomic universe

Zen is also the author of the science fiction novel series Yakitori , illustrated by so-bin (known for Overlord ), which was adapted into an anime by Netflix in May 2023 . With this new work, Zen once again demonstrates his thematic versatility and ability to build immersive worlds from unexpected angles.

With an innovative approach and a renowned creative team, Hoshinaki Sekai no Annainin is shaping up to be one of the freshest and most intriguing offerings in contemporary manga. Will this culinary guide to a world without stars be Zen's next hit?
