Carlo
Zen , best
known for his work on The Saga of Tanya the Evil , has
launched a new manga series with Issei Hatsuyoshiya ,
illustrator of Cells at Work! Code Black . The new project is
titled Hoshinaki Sekai no Annainin (Guides in a World Without
Stars), and debuted on Thursday, May 9 in Kodansha 's digital
magazine Morning two .
The story
revolves around a fictional destination management agency called Destination
Management Company , which offers food lovers personalized, guided
dining experiences, helping them discover unique flavors in a world without
stars.
A duo
with experience in complex worlds
This new
manga combines Zen's profound narrative style with Hatsuyoshiya's expressive
illustrations, promising a work that blends science fiction, exploration, and
culinary art. The premise aims to reflect on the meaning of travel and food in
a world devoid of light—literally and metaphorically.
Carlo Zen
is known for creating Yojo Senki (The Saga of Tanya the Evil) ,
a series of military-inspired, dark fantasy light novels illustrated by Shinobu
Shinotsuki , which had an anime adaptation premiered in January
2017. The series also had a film that premiered in Japan in February
2019 , and arrived in the United States in May of the same
year through Crunchyroll.

Zen is also
the author of the science fiction novel series Yakitori ,
illustrated by so-bin (known for Overlord ),
which was adapted into an anime by Netflix in May 2023 .
