Chapter  54 of the Kimi no Katana ga Oreru Made – Tsukimiya Matsuri no Koigataki manga revealed that the series will end with its next chapter . This historical romantic comedy manga , created by Inoue —also known for The Duke of Death and His Maid —will thus reach the end of its short but intense journey.

A romance forged in turbulent times

Set during the Bakumatsu period , the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate, the story revolves around Matsuri Tsukimiya , a beautiful young woman who captivates everyone except the one person she cares about most: her childhood friend, Yonosuke Tsukimiya . He is obsessed with avenging the death of his former love, despite the feelings Matsuri harbors for him.

Desperate to turn him away from his path of revenge, Matsuri makes a drastic decision: to fill his mind with thoughts of her alone , until she becomes his only reason for living. An intense premise, charged with emotion and romantic tension, has won over many readers since its release.

A manga that was born in 2023 and ends in 2024

Inoue began publishing the manga in Shogakukan 's Shonen Sunday magazine in May 2023. The publisher has released five compiled volumes so far , the most recent being on April 11 .

Inoue's legacy continues to grow

Prior to this work, Inoue was recognized for his manga The Duke of Death and His Maid , which debuted in October 2017 and concluded in May 2022 . This series, collected in 16 volumes , was published in English by Seven Seas and received a highly acclaimed anime adaptation .

The first season of the anime aired in July 2021 , followed by a second season in July 2023 , and a third season that debuted in April 2024. Crunchyroll has streamed all seasons, including their respective English dubs.

A closing that promises strong emotions

With the end of Kimi no Katana ga Oreru Made just around the corner, fans are preparing to say goodbye to Matsuri and Yonosuke, a couple whose story of love and heartache has left its mark on the historical romance genre.
