Renowned
author Kabi Nagata, famous for her autobiographical manga focused
on mental health, will premiere a new work entitled Ganbarisugi
Jigoku kara Dasshutsu Shimashita Repo (A Report on Escaping the
Hell of Trying Too Hard) on June 20 (UTC+2) through Futabasha's Web Site
Action.
This new
graphic essay-type manga will address the emotional recovery stage that
Nagata went through after a strong mental crisis, following the introspective
and honest style that has defined her career.
A
trajectory marked by vulnerability
The author
recently completed her work Kore wa Yuganda Shoku Repo Desu (*My
Twisted Eating Disorder*), which was published in Web Action since
2021 and ended on January 10 of this year. Futabasha collected
the story into a single volume, and Seven Seas Entertainment will
release its English version in October.
Kabi Nagata
has built a loyal readership around the world through titles such as My
Lesbian Experience with Loneliness, My Alcoholic Escape from
Reality, My Solo Exchange Diary, and My Pancreas Broke,
But My Life Got Better. All of these works have been licensed in English by
Seven Seas, and are characterized by their brutal sincerity and
emotional sensitivity.
This new
release promises to be another moving testament to the ravages of social
pressure, self-demand, and the long road to emotional well-being, from the
unique perspective of one of contemporary manga's most personal voices.
