RetroCrush adds Rinkai! and two more gems of the anime to its catalog

The streaming platform RetroCrush, specialized in anime, announced that it has acquired the exclusive streaming rights for the series Rinkai!, an anime focused on women's cycling. The premiere is scheduled for fall 2025 on its free service, available in the United States and Canada.


In addition, RetroCrush has already added the Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 anime to its catalog since last Friday, and confirmed that it will soon also include the acclaimed Terror in Resonance series.


What exactly is Rinkai! about?


Rinkai! it premiered in Japan on April 9 at 4:30 p.m. (Spanish time) on Tokyo MX and later on BS Fuji at 5:30 p.m. The story is set in the world of Japanese women's cycling, a sport that flourished briefly after World War II before disappearing for decades. However, with the creation of the Rinkai! League, cycling is making a strong comeback, led by a new cast of competitors determined to revive the glory of this forgotten sport.

The main cast includes:


  • Umino Kawamura as Izumi Itō
  • Azusa Aoi as Nana Hiratsuka
  • Rico Sasaki as Tsutsuji Kurume
  • and many more actresses who bring the league's cyclists to life.

The opening song, "Windshifter," is performed by Rico Sasaki, while the closing theme, "Override!," is performed by the cast under the name of their characters.


The series was directed by Takaaki Ishiyama (Sakura Wars) at TMS Entertainment, in collaboration with Maruga Factory. The scripts were written by Hideki Shirane (Date A Live) and the character design was the work of Hiromi Ono, known for her work on InuYasha.


The Rinkai universe! also expands to manga


On the same day as the anime's premiere, the manga Rinkai! Azalea on the Manga Bang! platform, illustrated by Kiyoshi Yamane and based on the original concept of the Rinkai! Project.


RetroCrush continues to grow with must-see titles


RetroCrush is a free, ad-supported platform, launched in March 2020. It's available on browsers, iOS and Android devices, in addition to smart TVs and devices like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV. Since July 2020, it has also offered a free TV channel through STIRR.


The company Cinedigm acquired Digital Media Rights in January 2022, integrating RetroCrush along with other services such as AsianCrush and Midnight Pulp. With these new additions to its catalog, RetroCrush consolidates itself as one of the most attractive platforms for fans of classic and contemporary anime.
