Futabasha officially announced that the light novel Yūsha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Itanode, Kokuhaku Shite Mita (English title: There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her), written by Suisei, as well as its manga adaptation illustrated by Kairi, will receive a television anime series. The manga adaptation is credited as the original basis for this new animated production.

A love story between good and evil

The plot revolves around Yōki, a man who is reincarnated in a fantasy world, but not as a hero or as the demonic lord... but as a subordinate of the Demon King. When the group of heroes attacks the evil castle, Yōki prepares to confront them. But everything changes when he sees Cecilia, the priestess of the enemy team, for the first time. At that moment, he falls madly in love and decides to declare his love for her.

In the main cast, the participation of Kōhei Amasaki as Yōki and the renowned Kana Hanazawa as Cecilia is confirmed, a duo that promises to bring a fun and endearing story to life.

A creative team with experience in great titles

The series will be directed by Tomonori Mine (Isekai Onsen Paradise) under the overall supervision of Yasutaka Yamamoto (MedalistServant × Service), while Yukie Sugawara (OverlordNo Guns Life) is in charge of the script and narrative supervision.

The character design is by Mina Ōsawa, who adapts La-na's original illustrations for the animation. The soundtrack will be composed by Satoru Kōsaki (BEASTARS, The Apothecary Diaries) together with the musical team of MONACA. The production is by Ryō Aizawa at the Starry Cube studio, with animation by Gekkō.

A story that has evolved over the years

The original work was published by Suisei on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō portal since 2013, and its last update was on June 12, 2025. The print version of the light novel, illustrated by La-na, began publication in October 2014, and has three volumes published until August 2015.

Kairi's manga, on the other hand, was released in 2021 through Futabasha's Gaugau Monster site. So far, the series has 11 compilation volumes, and volume 12 will be published on July 30, 2025.

With its quirky mix of romance, comedy, and fantasy elements, this story promises to offer a different perspective to the typical confrontations between good and evil. The anime is already in production and more details are expected to be announced soon, including its release date in Japan and international platforms.
