The
film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle remains
in the top spot at the box office in Japan for the third
consecutive week, according to data from Kogyo Tsushinsha for
the weekend of August 1 to 3. During that period, the film
grossed 2.457 billion yen (approximately $16.75
million) with 1,739,600 tickets sold, despite a 21% drop from
the previous weekend.
Breaking
historical records
On
August 4, the
anime's official account on X (formerly Twitter) announced that the film had
reached a cumulative gross of 17.639 billion yen (about $120
million) after only 17 days in theaters since its premiere
in Japan on July 18. This figure represents 112% of Mugen
Train's performance in the same period, thus consolidating the
franchise's continued success.
In
addition, Infinity Castle broke the record as the fastest
Japanese film to reach 10 billion yen, and now ranks tenth
in the all-time ranking of highest-grossing films in Japan. It is also
positioned as the seventh most successful Japanese animated feature
film, surpassing THE FIRST SLAM DUNK (2022).
