The Kuroneko to Majo no Kyōshitsu manga will have anime in 2026

The manga Kuroneko to Majo no Kyōshitsu (English title: The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch), by Yōsuke Kaneda, will have an anime adaptation that will premiere sometime in 2026. The announcement was accompanied by the opening of the official website, where important details such as the first voice actorsmembers of the production team, and a promotional teaser were revealed.



A magical cast for an enchanting story


The series will feature Kaede Hondo as Spica Virgo, a witch's apprentice who dreams of becoming a top-notch sorceress, although she suffers from not being able to use magic. By his side will be Nobunaga Shimazaki playing Claude Sirius, a powerful wizard who has been transformed into a cat by a curse.



Both characters form a peculiar duo when Claude unexpectedly appears before Spica. She wishes to learn magic; he, to break the curse that turned him into a cat. Their goals align, and thus begins a secret pact between master and apprentice... the key point of which could depend on an unexpected kiss!


Creative team with experience in romances


The direction will be in charge of Naoyuki Tatsuwa, known for his work in series such as Nisekoi and Promise of Wizard. The script is written by Midori Gotō (Mr. Villain's Day Off), while Takayuki Onoda (Hortensia Saga) will be in charge of character design. The animation will be in the hands of the LIDEN FILMS studio.


A new bet by Yōsuke Kaneda


The manga was released in March 2022 through Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app, and to date it has published eleven volumes, with volume 12 scheduled to come out on Thursday, August 8. It is also available in English thanks to the K MANGA service of the same publisher.


Yōsuke Kaneda is also the author of the hit manga Boarding School Juliet, which was serialized between 2015 and 2019, and which featured a 12-episode animated adaptation in 2018. The series was distributed exclusively by Amazon Prime inside and outside Japan.


With this new project, Kaneda returns with a proposal full of magic, humor and tenderness that promises to enchant both fans of the isekai genre and lovers of supernatural stories with heart.
