Poplar
Publishing Co., Ltd. confirmed
that the Nezumi-kun no Chokki picture book series, created
by Nakashiwo and Noriko Ueno, will feature
an anime adaptation for television. This children's play is widely
recognized in Japan for its endearing style and simple yet meaningful messages.
What
is Nezumi-kun no Chokki about?
The story
follows Nezumi-kun, a little mouse who always wears a red
vest. Throughout his adventures, he interacts with different animals,
transmitting values of friendship, empathy and coexistence. The character even
appeared in the 3D feature film Tobidasu Ehon in 2010.
A
publishing phenomenon with decades of history
The first
book in the saga was published in 1974, and since then the
collection has grown to 43 volumes, with more than 5
million copies in print. While Nakashiwo was in charge of the narrative,
the illustrations were in charge of Noriko Ueno, who passed away
on February 28, 2019.
A legacy
that transcends generations
With this
adaptation, the Japanese children's classic will seek to conquer a new audience
in television format, keeping alive the legacy of its creators and transmitting
the tenderness and simplicity that have characterized it for more than four
decades.
