The Sousou
no Frieren anime officially confirmed the premiere date of its second
season. The team revealed a new visual and announced that the series will
return on January 16, 2026, airing again on NTV's Friday
Anime Night block.
Tomoya
Kitagawa, who
directed several episodes of the first season, will take over as lead
director. Keiichiro Saito, director of the first installment, is
now listed with support credit. Madhouse returns as an animation studio,
with Tomohiro Suzuki in charge of the composition of the
series and Evan Call of the soundtrack.
A manga
in full expansion
The manga,
created by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, has
been published since 2020 in Weekly Shonen Sunday. The work has
exceeded 30 million copies in circulation worldwide and
continues to be serialized. Crunchyroll confirmed that it will stream the new
season globally outside of Asia.
Background

The first
season of Sousou no Frieren premiered in September 2023 with a
two-hour special and aired until March 2024. It was widely acclaimed for its
quality of animation, direction, and fidelity to the original manga.
