The
production committee of the anime The Barbarian's Bride, based
on Noriaki Kotoba's manga, announced that the premiere date is
postponed from October 2025 to April 2026.
According to the statement, the decision was made with the aim of raising
the quality of the work before its television broadcast.
Creative
team behind the adaptation
The project
is directed by Takayuki Tanaka (Baldr Force EXE) at the
Jumondo studio. The scripts for the series are supervised by Miya
Asakawa (Shonen Onmyouji). On the visual side, Masayoshi
Kikuchi (The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another
World) leads the character design, along with Mayumi Fujita, Hajime
Hatakeyama and Lo Ho Kim, who also serve as chief
animation directors. The music is composed by Arisa Okehazama.
The
story of the original manga
The manga,
published by Kodansha since January 2021, follows Serafina
de Lavillant, the most powerful knight in the West. After a failed mission
to subdue the barbarian tribes of the East, she is captured and taken prisoner.
Convinced that she will suffer a cruel fate, she asks to be executed, but to
her surprise, the leader of the tribe proposes marriage. What seemed like a
cruel arrangement could turn into an unexpected opportunity to uncover the
truth about those she considered savages.
Availability
and rescheduling
The
publisher Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in
English and released its fourth volume on August 12, 2025. For its
part, Kodansha is scheduled to release the tenth
compilation volume for October 9, 2025.
With this
delay, The Barbarian's Bride is now aiming to premiere on
Japanese television in April 2026, promising a more polished
adaptation of the original play.
