The work originally debuted under the title Kageki Shoujo! (with an exclamation point) in Shueisha's Jump Kai magazine between 2012 and 2014. However, the cancellation of the magazine caused its early closure. Later, in 2015, Saiki resumed the project under the title Kageki Shoujo!! (with two exclamation points) in Melody magazine, where he established himself as one of the references of the dramatic shōjo genre.
