The manga
Kageki Shojo!!, the work of Kumiko Saiki, has officially
begun its final arc. The author shared the news through her account on X
(formerly Twitter), confirming that the story will close with an additional
volume. After more than eight years of publication in Hakusensha's Melody magazine,
the series is approaching its definitive conclusion.
A tour
of the manga
The work
originally debuted under the title Kageki Shoujo! (with an
exclamation point) in Shueisha's Jump Kai magazine
between 2012 and 2014. However, the cancellation of the magazine caused its
early closure. Later, in 2015, Saiki resumed the project under the title Kageki
Shoujo!! (with two exclamation points) in Melody magazine,
where he established himself as one of the references of the dramatic shōjo
genre.
Recognitions
In 2020,
the series was nominated for the Best Shōjo Manga award at the
44th Kodansha Manga Awards, confirming its impact within the
industry. In addition, Shueisha reissued the first stage of
the story in 2019 under the title Kageki Shoujo!! Season
Zero, compiling everything in a single volume.
From
paper to screen
The
popularity of the manga led to the release in 2021 of an anime adaptation
produced by Pine Jam, broadcast by Funimation, which
also released an English dub and later a home video edition.
