Every great
journey has a final destination, and Rimuru Tempest's has reached its own in
print. The official account of Micro Magazine announced that
the light novel series Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (That
Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime), written by Fuse, has
officially concluded his 11-year career with the launch of his twenty-third
volume this saturday.
The work
began life on the website Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2013, before
being physically published with illustrations by Mitz Vah in
May 2014. Since then, the franchise has become an industry giant, accumulating
more than 56 million copies in circulation. Its success has
prompted a manga adaptation by Taiki Kawakami, which is still
ongoing with 30 volumes published.
The
future of the anime franchise
Although
the novel has ended, the animated adaptation is still more alive than ever.
After three successful seasons produced by the studio 8bit and
the movie Scarlet Bond, the franchise already has one
confirmed fourth season and a second film titled Tears
of the Azure Sea (Soukai no Namida-hen), the latter scheduled
to premiere on February 27, 2026.
Synopsis
The story continues Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old office worker who dies after being stabbed and is reincarnated in a fantasy world as a slime. After befriending the dragon Veldora and receive the name of Rimuru Tempest- begins an adventure to build a nation where monsters and humans can coexist, using their unique ability to absorb powers.
