It's never too late to pursue a dream, and Takibi Amamori it is living proof of this. The author of the successful light novel Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! (Make Heroine ga Oosugiru!) has revealed that, after the enormous success of the anime adaptation and the increase in sales of his work, he made the decision to quit his office job this summer to become a full-time writer.
A late but triumphant debut
Amamori, whose exact age is not public but is around 50 years old, debuted as a professional novelist already in his 40 years. Although he wrote during his college youth, he spent close to 20 years without writing a single line due to workload. It was upon realizing that he had reached the age his father was when he was young, and feeling that his body was no longer responding the same, that he decided to try one more time.
The success of the "Losing Heroines"
His work won the 15th Shogakukan Light Novel Prize in 2020, which marked his debut in 2021. The anime, broadcast in 2024, skyrocketed the popularity of the franchise, turning the city into Toyohashi (birthplace of the author and setting of the work) at a pilgrimage point for fans. According to the interview, the production of one anime sequel it's already decided.
