Actor Yuji Mitsuya, voice of Kaioshin in Dragon Ball Z, is hospitalized after a serious fall

The world of anime and Japanese dubbing is in a state of alert. Yuji Mitsuya, a 71-year-old veteran voice actor, has been reported hospitalized after suffering a serious fall while under the influence of alcohol.


According to the details shared by the actor himself, the accident occurred on January 27. Mitsuya revealed that he requires urgent surgery to treat a fractured nasal bone and other injuries resulting from the impact.

The actor said that, due to his drunkenness, he lost consciousness after hitting his head hard. When he woke up in the hospital, medical examinations confirmed the severity of his injuries:


1.                   Facial injuries: Nasal bone fracture and an eyelid wound that required four stitches.

2.                   Internal bleeding: The studies revealed brain bleeding that, according to doctors, could have been fatal if it had hit at a more critical point.

3.                   Other trauma: Contusions and deep pain in the knees, elbows and palms of the hands.

Mitsuya shared a message of reflection with her followers, maintaining a resilient tone despite the physical disaster suffered:

With a career that began in the 1970s, Yuji Mitsuya is an iconic figure in the Japanese entertainment industry with participation in more than 200 productions. He is widely recognized for playing Kaioshin (Shin) in Dragon Ball ZTatsuya Uesugi in the sports series Touch, and Soichi Tsuji in Ito Junji: Maniac.


Despite overcoming a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2022, the actor has remained active in anime culture, participating in live readings and lyric writing for 2.5D musicals. Mitsuya is currently adjusting her professional schedule to undergo the necessary reconstructive surgery.
