The gala night in
Hollywood did not end with celebration for the Japanese anime industry. During
the 83rd Golden Globes ceremony, held on January 11 in
Los Angeles, the film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle
Arc Chapter One failed to win the award for Best Animated
Feature.
The film directed
by Haruo Sotozaki competed to continue the legacy left
by Hayao Miyazaki and The Boy and the Heron, who
won the award in 2024. Had he won, it would have marked the second victory for
a Japanese production in a span of two years, a milestone that ultimately did
not materialize.
The K-Pop
phenomenon hunts demon.
The golden
statuette was finally awarded to K-Pop: Demon Hunters. This work
has been described as a distinctive blend of Korean pop culture and high-energy
action. The plot follows global superstars Rumi, Mira,
and Zoey, who are hiding a secret: they use supernatural powers to
hunt demons and protect their fans from paranormal threats
The win of K-Pop:
Demon Hunters is not entirely surprising considering its performance
at the box office, where it has shown remarkable resilience by staying in the
top 10 for 28 consecutive weeks, cementing itself as a long-running
hit in the West.
