It's
bittersweet news for Shuchiin Academy's fans. Following the announcement in
late 2025 that the Kaguya-sama: Love is War (Kaguya-sama wa
Kokurasetai) franchise will conclude with an original story film
written by Aka Akasaka, it has become clear that the faithful
adaptation of the manga has come to an end.
Although we
had the special "The First Kiss Never Ends" and a recent special at
the end of 2025 that covered some lost chapters, the reality is that the bulk
of the remaining story will remain on paper. For those who want to know what
they missed (or where to start reading), here is the list of the omitted arcs.
The Lost
Arches of Kaguya-sama
Arc 15:
New Game (Chapters 152-162)
It details
what all the characters did during the winter holidays. It is crucial to
establish the new dynamics before the third trimester.
Arc 16:
The School Journey or also known as Hayasaka's Arc (Chapters 179-187)
The
sophomore graduation trip. Here the plot gets complicated with the Shinomiya
family: the third brother tries to extract information about Hayasaka, putting
her in a critical situation where she must ask for help.
Arc 17:
The End of Secrets (Chapters 188-206)
The
biggest loss for Ishigami fans. He is the protagonist of this arc, which narrates the conclusion
of his romance with Tsubame Koyasu. Does she agree to date him or does she
reject him? It's a massive turning point for the character.
Arc 18:
Home Visit (Chapters 207-209)
During
spring break, Kaguya visits the Shirogane's humble home with something very
important to say to Miyuki.
Arch 20:
The Buddha's Stone Bowl (Chapters 226-234)
The
ultimate goal for the "Ishimiko". Miko Iino becomes aggressive in her
romantic conquest when she sees Ishigami approach Shiranui (a fellow gamer). In
addition, it explores the breakdown of the friendship between Miko and Osaragi.
Teen drama at its finest.
Arc 21:
The Shinomiya War (Chapters 240-261)
The climax
of action and political drama. Kaguya's family comes into conflict with the
Shijo family and the war of succession intensifies. Kaguya is forced into an
arranged marriage and the Student Council must unite to "rescue the
princess".
Arc 22:
Shirogane's Departure (Chapters 262-267)
With peace
restored, the inescapable date approaches: Miyuki must leave for Stanford. An
arc on how to say goodbye to the person you love.
Arc 24:
The Farewell (Chapters 272-281)
The true
ending of the manga. Heartless mothers, unexpected twists and the conclusion of
all love battles.
What
about what they did animate?
It is worth
mentioning that the recent TV special adapted parts of Arc 19 (The ABC
of Men and Women) and Arc 23 (Everyday Life), but
skipping large fragments of context and key scenes.
