The runway is ready to receive one of the most inspiring stories about true beauty and effort. Acclaimed animation studio A-1 Pictures made official the production of a television adaptation for the Bless manga. Fans of the modeling world will have to be a little patient to see this animated work, as the committee confirmed that the project will debut on the small screen until 2027.

Bless Details

Despite the distant premiere window, the production company did not hesitate to reveal the robust technical team that is already working on the series. The main direction of this ambitious project rests on the shoulders of Shotaro Kitamura (who recently shone in Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!). Alongside him, Takayuki Kikuchi (veteran episode director for Solo Leveling and Kaguya-sama: Love is War) will serve as assistant director, while the composition of the scripts is being supervised by Fukurou Kamiza.

The vital character design and chief animation are in charge of Honoka Yokoyama (a key player in the second season of Oshi no Ko), with the solid support of Tetsuya Kawakami and Reina Iwasaki as co-directors-in-chief. Finally, the musical atmosphere will be composed by Ryo Yoshimata (famous for his beautiful work in Somali and the Forest Spirit).

What is the story about?

The plot takes us into the ruthless fashion industry through two protagonists with very opposite realities. On the one hand we have Aia, a young woman who everyone considers destined to shine as a supermodel from the cradle. On the other is Jun, who has been constantly bullied at school due to his freckles. Both will join forces to regain the power to define their own identity in a very superficial environment.

Through its journey between makeup, costumes and catwalks, the play raises incisive questions about what it really means to be beautiful and exposes the constant struggle to overcome an arbitrary system that seems to reward natural talent over hard work.

About the original work

Mangaka Yukino Sonoyama began serializing this title in the pages of Kodansha's Shonen Magazine Edge in 2022. The story has managed to connect deeply with the reading public, accumulating more than 1.25 million copies in circulation to date. Her eighth printed compilation volume will go on sale in Japan on March 9.
