The vaults
of large financial institutions hide secrets far darker than simple safe
deposit boxes. Publisher Shueisha shook up the community by
officially confirming the production of an animated adaptation for the
acclaimed psychological thriller Junket Bank. To raise the stakes,
the committee released the first promotional poster for the series and
announced that the project will be integrated into the competitive fall season,
setting its premiere for October.
The
revealed visual art shows us the eccentric protagonist resting his cheek on a
casino table, surrounded by huge wads of bills and stacks of chips, perfectly
capturing that seductive but sinister atmosphere that surrounds the world of
high-risk gambling. Along with this announcement, the original creator of the
work shared a special commemorative illustration to celebrate with his readers
the leap to the small screen.

What is
the story about?
The premise
immerses us in a world where the most prestigious bank in the country hides a
network of clandestine betting venues operated by the same institution. The
protagonist is Akira Mitarai, a rookie banker who is abruptly transferred to an
unknown department called the "Special Operations Division". Guided
by his mysterious new superior, Akira descends into the bowels of the branch,
discovering the macabre game scenario.
It is in
this abyss of greed that he meets Shin Mafutsu, a gambler whose imposing and
overwhelming presence immediately captivates him. Fascinated by Shin's madness,
Akira decides to abandon his boring everyday life as an office worker to fully
immerse himself in a world driven by passion, where pleasure, ruin, despair and
life itself are put on the table.
