Gifted mystery manga will have anime adaptation by 2027

The creator behind Kindaichi Case FilesBloody Monday, and Drops of God has another ace up his sleeve, and that ace just confirmed his anime. Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine announced that the manga Gifted, with a script by Seimaru Amagi and illustrations by Rima Amamiya, will receive an animated adaptation scheduled for 2027. For now there is no studio, there is no cast and there is no exact window of release within the year, but confirmation is already on the table.

The interesting thing about the ad is its context. Gifted has already had its chance in live-action: two seasons of its live-action adaptation aired in 2023, the first in August and the second in October, with Takahisa Masuda of the group NEWS in the role of Natsuki Amakusa and Hidaka Ukisho as Yuya Shiki. The arrival of anime now is not a replacement but a new layer on a franchise that has already proven to have a real audience.

Artist Rima Amamiya shared a celebratory message upon hearing the news, highlighting precisely that: that the anime comes after the live-action, and that she is happy to be able to deliver the story in this new format. He thanked those who have accompanied the series from the beginning and welcomed new readers who may come through the anime.

The manga is still active on Nakayoshi, with the twelfth volume scheduled for June 12. Serialization kicked off in December 2021 and is maintaining its pace uninterrupted, giving the project a solid foundation of source material for adaptation.
