MAPPA's 15th anniversary event did not stop
dropping announcements, and this was one of the most anticipated on the shojo
side: the studio confirmed that it is in charge of the anime adaptation
of Fall in Love, You False Angels, Coco Uzuki's manga
winner of the 2025 Kodansha Manga Award. The announcement came with a teaser
that revealed the full production team, though the video was put private
shortly after it was posted.
The direction is in charge of Yasutomo
Okamoto, with Mariko Oka designing the characters
and Yohei Yamazaki supervising the scripts of the series. The
rest of the team includes Takumi Hashimoto as art
director, Kana Tanabe as key color artist, and Yuriko
Waki as animation producer. It's the first significant update on the
project since its initial reveal, and it confirms that MAPPA is handling
development with a team already defined for the 2027 release.
For now there is no information about the voice
cast. Those details, along with more visual material, are expected as
production progresses.
About Fall in Love, You False Angels
Fall in Love, You False Angels is a manga by Coco
Uzuki published in Kodansha's Dessert magazine since
April 2023, with its seventh collected volume released on June 12, 2026. The
series won the Kodansha Manga Award in 2025, received a Shogakukan
Award nomination that same year, and has remained in the top 20 female readers
of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! in multiple editions. The story
follows Otogi Katsura, president of the hall known for her sweet
and angelic image, and Toki Ninomae, the equally perfect vice
president in appearance. They both hide very different personalities from those
the rest of the class knows, and when they discover it mutually, they decide to
keep that shared secret as they get closer and closer.
