The most beloved martial mayhem of classic
manga returns for the third time. Ranma 1/2 released the
second trailer for its third season, confirming the premiere
for October on NTV with exclusive subsequent broadcast
on Netflix. The team remains largely intact, giving continuity to a
project that has so far been welcomed for its fidelity to the source material.
Konosuke Uda returns as director at MAPPA,
maintaining the creative line that defined the previous two seasons. Lead
animation directors Yoshiko Saito and Kosuke Kawamura are
also returning, this time accompanied by Riko Kaneda and Haruki
Miura. Lead animator Masahiro Kurio returns, with the addition
of Atsuko Ishida and Yoshihiro Takeda to the
team. This combination of continuity with occasional additions suggests a
commitment to maintaining visual consistency while adding fresh talent in key
animation roles.
The new trailer doesn't reveal specific plot
details, but it reaffirms the signature mix of comedy, action, and
character-driven moments that has defined the series since its debut. The first
season of this new adaptation premiered in October 2024, followed by the second
in October 2025, both with the same pattern of television broadcast followed by
availability on Netflix.
About Ranma 1/2
Ranma 1/2 is the classic manga by Rumiko
Takahashi, one of the most influential authors in manga history, also known
as Inuyasha and Urusei Yatsura. The original
series follows Ranma Saotome, a young martial arts practitioner
who, after falling into a cursed spring, transforms into a woman every time he
comes into contact with cold water. The premise, which mixes comedy, romance,
and martial arts with a genre-swapping twist uncommon for its time, influenced
entire generations of anime and manga fans. The new adaptation has been praised
for staying true to the source material while presenting it with a revamped
visual bill for a new audience.
