Romance and gentlemen? The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom confirms anime adaptation

If you were tired of each new fantasy story being another isekai with a broken protagonist who shuts everything down, you'll be happy to know that the industry still has room for pure romance and slightly warmer adventures. The play The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom (Marronnier Okoku no Shichinin no Kishi) officially confirmed on Monday that it will make the leap to animation with a series scheduled to premiere in October of this year.

To warm up, its managers released a first promotional image on its official website. This story will arrive through an educational channel, seeking to capture both the youngest and the general public related to these genres. So far, the names of the seiyuu involved have not been revealed, nor the exact number of episodes, but the machinery is already in motion.

The Production Team

This whole adventure will come to life thanks to the work of the J.C.Staff studio, with Kiyoko Sayama taking the reins in the director's chair, backed by her experience in titles such as Skip Beat and recent seasons of To Your Eternity. To maintain the delicate emotional balance and true to the original manga, Shinzo Fujita is taking over the scripts and supervision of the series. The characters' appearance was adapted for the screen by Yuriko Maeda, while Yoshiaki Fujisawa is composing a soundtrack designed to capture that adventurous and romantic atmosphere so characteristic. The entire audio section is under the watchful eye of experienced sound director Jin Aketagawa.

About The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom

This manga created by Nao Iwamoto is one of those comforting reads that has been published since 2016 in the pages of Shogakukan's Flowers magazine. In fact, the work has such a solid community that its 11th compilation volume will go on sale this coming June 10. Iwamoto is not a newbie to mixing fantastic worlds with a strong emotional core; it is enough to remember that he is the mind behind Kingdom of Gold, Kingdom of Water, a work that had its own film adaptation at the beginning of 2023.

The central plot introduces us to seven peculiar brothers who serve as knights in their kingdom. Each has the important task of traveling as an ambassador to one of the eight neighboring nations, where they will embark on a parallel mission: to find their destined companion. The really fun thing about this dynamic is that their personalities are marked by their own names. You have characters like Nemukunai, who is never sleepy; the generous and kind Hakuai; or the contrasting Atsugariya and Samugariya, which are super sensitive to heat and cold respectively. They are joined by Kemono Tsukai with his affinity for animals, the proud swordsman Tsurugi Jiman, and Harapeko, who is always hungry. With this chaotic but charming group looking for love, laughter is guaranteed.
