Being forty years old, wearing an impeccable
suit and being the envy of the office doesn't mean that you can't melt inside
when you see a plush stuffed animal. The animated adaptation of Tsutomu's popular original
manga, Ojisan wa Kawaii Mono ga Osuki. (Older Men Like
Cute Things), officially confirmed that it will premiere on Japanese
television on October 4. The news was accompanied by a new
promotional image and the reveal of important members for the voice cast.
The comedy introduces us to Mitsutaka Oji, a
forty-year-old executive who in the eyes of all his co-workers is the absolute
definition of a mature, attractive, elegant and extremely efficient man in his
daily tasks. However, behind that façade of an impeccable professional hides a
secret that he takes care of with life: Mitsutaka feels an uncontrollable
obsession with small and extremely tender things. The story follows his daily
attempts to keep his passion for stuffed animals hidden while trying to deal
with everyday situations where his true fanatical side threatens to come to
light.
LIDEN FILMS takes the reins of the project
The animation of this fun installment will be
in charge of the renowned LIDEN FILMS studio, with the
direction of Tomoe Makino. The general scripts will be written
by Yu Sato, while Tomomi Kimura will be in charge
of character design and Arisa Okehazama will be in charge of
composing the soundtrack. The printed manga began serialization in July 2017
and is already preparing the release of its thirteenth and final compilation
volume for the same month of October, closing with a flourish a trajectory that
even inspired a successful live-action series in 2020.
