Hamefura: Who wants Katarina Claes the most?

In the eighth episode of the anime adaptation of the light novels Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta (also abbreviated as Hamefura) Katarina and her friends are caught in a magic book that feeds on the wishes of their victims . In this episode, Katarina discovers the book and opens it out of curiosity, causing Prince Geordo, Prince Alan, Sophia, and Nicol Arcart, as well as their brother Keith, to be sucked into the book with her. The only way out is for one of the wishes to be fulfilled, or else they are doomed to stay there forever.

Mary Hunt and Maria Campbell stay behind and decide to read each wish in an effort to help their friends escape from there. Maria remains calm as she watches everyone with Katarina, but Mary easily loses her cool every time. Due to her exaggerated reactions to the possibility of each of her rivals fulfilling her romantic fantasies with Katarina, Mary's desire for Katarina might be considered the greatest, but she was not caught by the book, so we couldn't be Witnesses to his true wishes and is therefore out of the question this time.

Each character's fantasy revolves around their desire to become Katarina's only romantic interest. Although each scene is quite passionate, it is true that it is quite one-sided since, honoring her nickname of “Bakarina”, Katarina goes through all this without realizing anything, but the desire of one of them stands out above that of the the rest.

Men's fantasies are a bit selfish. Prince Geordo is the first, imagining his wedding night in the moments just before taking his new wife to the honeymoon and claiming her entirely as his own. For his part, Keith's dream is a little less committed and more innocent. He imagines teasing Katarina with her sweets in a sensual way, imagining that she thinks of him romantically instead of just seeing him as her younger brother.

Nicol Ascart, meanwhile, imagines himself as an incarnation of one of the characters from the novels read by Katarina and her sister Sophia, literally dragging Katarina around during a costume party. His style of jumping everywhere under the night sky shocks Katarina, who passes out. Prince Alan's dream is more innocent because he is not yet aware of his feelings for Katarina. He imagines himself playing a concert on the piano with Katarina as his only audience, so it is understood that his only wish at this point in the series is to be admired by him.

But of all the fantasies, Sophia Ascart has the most filled with desire. Since the seventh episode it had been defined that she is the reincarnation of Katarina's friend in her previous world, and that she vowed to follow her even after death. Although neither of them realizes that they share the same past, due to their backgrounds, Sophia's feelings are much greater than those of any other character. Although in the real world outside of the book, she puts her brother's feelings for Katarina first.

Inside the book, there is no one else in the library besides them, so nothing prevents her from confessing her love. And this is exactly what Sophia did, holding her against a wall and telling her of her feelings and that she is ready to start a life together at any moment. Confessing her love and intentions so openly is not characteristic of Sophia, so she clearly demonstrates that her wishes outweigh her seemingly passive personality.

It is not surprising then that Katarina did not understand her confession, but still seeing Sophia so encouraged by her feelings is extremely satisfying. Although it was only a fairly short scene within a book, her wish was easily the least selfish and the most passionate.
