Square Enix revealed that NieR Re[in]carnation, the first smartphone game from the NieR franchise, has delayed its launch this year until the first half of 2021 overall. The smartphone role-playing game will be free with an internal item store.

Square Enix is in charge of production, with Applibot in charge of development and CyDesignation in charge of character design. The delivery will also have a launch in North America and Europe, although it is not yet confirmed if it will be simultaneous.

About NieR

The now-defunct Japanese developer Cavia (Drakengard, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles) developed the original game as a spin-off from Drakengard in 2010. Square Enix released the game on two different consoles, with NieR Gestalt released for the Xbox 360 and NieR Replicant released for the PlayStation 3. The latter had minor changes to the plot and design of the protagonist.

Finally, NieR:Automata was a sequel released for the PlayStation 4 console in Japan in February 2017, followed by a launch in North America and Europe in March 2017. Square Enix also launched the PC game via Steam in March 2017, and on Xbox One in June 2018. Its combined physical and digital sales exceeded 4.5 million units.
