The Comic Market (Comiket) Organizing Committee announced that the Comic Market (Comiket) 99 convention has been postponed again. The planning team hopes to hold it in the upcoming winter season, but noted that no the decision is not final.

The announcement explained that even after the state of emergency is lifted in Tokyo on March 21, the restriction measures will remain in place for some time. And even if that transition period ends before the planned date for the event in May, there will likely still be restrictions on mass events, which is why the staff decided to postpone the event.

The event was planned to take place May 2-4, instead of the previously announced four-day event May 2-5. The upcoming event was originally planned to be limited to tens of thousands of participants per day (as previous editions have gathered around 200,000 participants per day).

The Comic Market Organizing Committee announced in July 2020 that its goal was to move the Comic Market (Comiket) 99 event, planned for winter 2020, to the 2021 Golden Week vacation (taking place between April and May 2021). The committee cited scheduling problems considering that Tokyo Big Sight's east exhibition hall will not be available until the fall of 2021 due to the staging of the Olympics, and the difficulty of taking precautionary measures restricting the maximum capacity of each hall due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
