A recent leak claimed that the anime
adaptation of the light novels “ Overlord ” has a fifth
season currently in production , which would continue the
story seen in the fourth season (remember that the recent film adapts events
prior to this most recent season).
It should be noted that, as this is a leak, the
information is pending official confirmation , but it comes from an
extremely reliable source within the media. Confirmation will likely come when
the film leaves theaters in Japan in a few weeks.
On the other hand, Kugane Maruyama and So-Bin have
been publishing the light novels through Kadokawa since July 2012. A
manga adaptation by Satoshi Oushio and Hugin Miyama
has been published since November 2014. Madhouse studios has
been in charge of the anime adaptation, with four seasons broadcast since 2015
totaling fifty-two episodes, as well as a canonical film. The most recent one
aired in the Summer 2022 season (July-September) .
Overlord Synopsis
Yggdrasil is a virtual reality game known for the
freedom it offers its players. After a simple tutorial, players are free to
explore the world and customize anything from their classes to their weapons.
However, in the year 2138, the game sees its final hours when its servers shut
down at midnight. Momonga, a devoted player of Yggdrasil, decides to spend the
game's final hours within his guild, Ainz Ooal Gown.
Curiously, at the stroke of midnight, the game does
not log him out. Instead, Momonga finds himself transported to another world,
one that is seemingly identical to Yggdrasil. Faced with an already abnormal
situation, he discovers that the NPCs have gained sentience. Trapped in the
skeletal body of his avatar and desperate to discover the cause of his plight
and find other players like him, Momonga sets out to take control of the new
world with the help of his loyal subjects.
