Several months ago , a leak claimed that the final season of the anime adaptation of " My Hero Academia ( Boku no Hero Academia )" would premiere during the Fall-2025 period (October-December) in Japan. Although this information was not yet confirmed, it was expected to be officially revealed at one of the major events in the anime industry.
Now, during
AnimeJapan 2025, TOHO Animation unveiled a new trailer and key visual
for the eighth and final season of "My Hero Academia." They
also confirmed that Crunchyroll will stream the anime worldwide,
excluding Asia, starting in October, coinciding with its Japanese premiere.
The
production team will return for this final season, with Kenji Nagasaki serving
as main director, Naomi Nakayama as director, Yousuke
Kuroda as script supervisor, Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi
Odashima as character designers, Yuki Hayashi as
composer, and BONES as animation studio. The seventh season of
the series was announced after the sixth season concluded in March 2023.
Meanwhile,
details of the franchise so far include:
- Kohei Horikoshi began publishing the
manga in July 2014 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and concluded
it in August 2024, with a total of 41 compiled volumes. The anime
adaptation, produced by BONES studios, began in April 2016 and has so far
accumulated 158 episodes, nine OVAs, four original films, and several
video games for different platforms.
- The main cast consists of Daiki
Yamashita (Izuku Midoriya), Kenta Miyake (All
Might), Nobuhiko Okamoto (Katsuki Bakugo), Yuuki
Kaji (Shoto Todoroki), Aoi Yuki (Ochaco
Uraraka), Marina Inoue (Momo Yaoyorozu) and Yoshitsugu
Matsuoka (Tenya Iida).
- The production team
includes Kenji Nagasaki (general director), Naomi
Nakayama (anime director), Yousuke Kuroda (writer
and script supervisor), Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima (character
designers and animation directors), and Yuuki Hayashi (soundtrack
composer).
- The story follows Izuku
Midoriya, a young boy with no powers in a world where 80% of the
population has special abilities. Despite his lack of a Quirk, he is
chosen by the greatest hero, All Might, to be his successor. Izuku
enters UA Academy to train as a hero, facing challenges and dangers as he
strives to fulfill his dream of becoming a hero.
