The
expected anime Champignon Witch, adaptation of the original Tachibana Higuchi
manga, has revealed its first official novelties. Through a trailer released
last Friday, it was confirmed that the series will reach Japanese screens in
January 2026, through the TBS chain.
The
production also revealed to the voice actress that she will play the
protagonist: Haruka Shiraishi will give life to Luna, a mysterious witch with
uncommon powers. Together with this announcement, a first visual advance of the
series and a commemorative illustration showed by Luna that shows its
characteristic fungus hat.
The series
address will be in charge of Yōsuke Kubo, known for his work at Dahlia in Bloom
and Maarui Kanojo to Zannen Na Kareshi. The script and composition will be in
the hands of Yūko Kakihara, who has participated in titles such as Blue Box,
Buddy Daddies and School Babysitters.
Character
design is borne by Miki Matsumoto, recognized for his work at Angels of Death
and Summer Time Rendering. The animation will be produced jointly by the
Typhoon Graphics and Qzil.la.

Champignon
Witch is a magical fantasy story that follows Luna's life, a lonely witch who
lives in the black forest. Its presence causes the appearance of poisonous
fungi in every place that it touches, which has earned it the nickname of
"the mushroom witch" and the generalized fear of those around it.
However, everything changes when the heat of human love experiences for the
first time.
The work
was originally launched in October 2019 through the Manga Park application of
the Hakusensha publishing house. The sixth compilation volume was published in
December 2025.

Alice to the Fungi Forest
Tachibana
Hyguchi is known worldwide for having created Gakuen Alice, his most recognized
work, which was serialized until 2013. This manga inspired an animated
adaptation of 26 episodes between 2004 and 2005. At the time, the Tokyopop
publishing house published 16 volumes in English before ceasing operations in
2011, together with the first four volumes of another work of Higuchi, Portrait
of M& N.
