The renowned Japanese band  YORUSHIKA , composed of  N-buna on musical production and  Suis on vocals, has released this May 9th its new digital single titled “Martian” (known as Kaseijin in Japan), which serves as the opening theme for the second season of the anime SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary .

The song was not only released on digital platforms, but was also accompanied by an animated music video now available on the band's official YouTube channel . This emotional video features a Martian performing the song in multiple languages, reinforcing its message about the desire to escape from one's current location to another world, like Mars.

A personal and symbolic production

The video clip's description reveals a profound reflection: "I used to think I was a Martian too. I thought I was in a special place, with something unique. But not anymore. It turns out everyone else was on Mars, and I was just on Earth."

This emotional connection is reinforced by the fact that n-buna not only wrote the lyrics, composed and arranged the song, but also participated for the first time in the creation of the music video, serving as screenwriter, co-director and animator .

In addition, the music video was co-directed by Kota Morie (MORIE Inc.), recognized for his previous work with the band, such as the songs “Spring Thief” and “Sunny” , the latter known for being the second opening for the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey's End .

SHOSHIMIN continues its story in anime

The SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary series is based on the novels by author Honobu Yonezawa (of Hyouka fame) and is produced by Lapin Track studio under the direction of Mamoru Kanbe ( Elfen Lied ). The composition is in charge of Yoshiya Ono , with character designs by Atsushi Saito and music by Takahiro Obata ( The Promised Neverland ).

Crunchyroll is streaming the anime simultaneously and describes it as follows :

With an opening like “Martian,” full of melancholy and sensitivity , the second season of SHOSHIMIN promises to continue touching the audience's emotional fibers.
