is based on short stories by writer Taku Mayumura, with Masao Maruyama as

Manie: Neo Tokyo originally premiered during the Tokyo International Fantastic
Film Festival in 1987, and was later launched in VHS in October of the same
year. In North America, the Streamline Pictures distributor led her to cinemas
and also launched her in domestic format with English dubbing.
Subsequently,
ADV Films reissued the film in DVD format in the years 2004, 2008 and 2009,
keeping their presence among classic anime fans alive.
