The official Shonen Jump+ website announced on Wednesday that the manga Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Cloud PLUS, created by Takeshi Okano and Shō Makura, will reach its final chapter on June 25. This commemorative short series was released to celebrate the new animated adaptation of the franchise, scheduled to begin on July 2.

An unpublished story with a classic flavor

Described by MANGA Plus as a compilation of untold stories from the Cloud universe, the series follows the adventures of the iconic professor alongside Hiroshi, Kyoko, and the rest of the group in the city of Domori. The manga debuted on Shonen Jump+ on May 14, and will have a single compilation volume, which will be released on July 4.

A franchise with three decades of legacy

Jigoku Sensei Cloud's original work was published between 1993 and 1999 in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, totaling 31 volumes and more than 29 million copies in circulation. Since then, it has spawned multiple derivatives, including:

  • Jigoku Cloud Sensei: Ōmagatoki (one-shot in 2014)
  • Jigoku Sensei Cloud Neo (2014-2018, 17 volumes)
  • Jigoku Sensei Cloud S (2018, 4 volumes)
  • Reibaishi Izuna and Reibaishi Izuna Ascension (both 10 volumes)

In addition, in May of this year, a new series titled Jigoku Sensei Cloud Kai debuted in Saikyō Jump magazine, with Makura in charge of the original script and Okano in the drawings.

From the pages to anime and beyond

The Cloud universe has been adapted into multiple formats: a television anime series between 1996 and 1997, a series of OVAs in 1998-1999three animated films and even a live-action series in 2014.

The new animated adaptation will debut on July 2 with a one-hour special that will include the first two episodes. This version will be broadcast in two parts (split cour), with the second scheduled for January 2026.

A short but meaningful farewell

Although Jigoku Sensei Cloud PLUS will be a short serialization, it represents a nostalgic homage to long-time fans and a gateway for new readers. With its conclusion so close and a new animated adaptation on the horizon, the legacy of the master of hell is more alive than ever.
