This year's
27th issue of Weekly Shōnen Magazine, published on June 4, has confirmed that
Atsushi Uchiyama's Irozuku Monochrome manga will end in the next issue, which
will be released on Wednesday, June 11.
Eroticism
and Chastity in Constant Collision
This
peculiar romantic comedy revolves around Isshiki, a young man who falls in love
with a girl determined to maintain her virginity. The unexpected twist occurs
when Isshiki is possessed by Asmodeus, the demon of lust, who seeks to awaken
sexual desire in girls to excite Isshiki.
However, to
exorcise the demon, Isshiki must avoid getting aroused at all costs. Thus
begins an absurd and fun struggle between purity and temptation, with
situations as provocative as they are ridiculous.
A Short but
Provocative Series
Irozuku
Monochrome debuted in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2024. Since then,
Kodansha has published four compiled volumes, the first on October 17 and the
most recent on May 16. Although the series had a short run, it quickly gained
attention for its blend of spicy humor and absurd situations.
Atsushi
Uchiyama's Background
Uchiyama
was already known for his previous manga, Will It Be the World or Her? (Sekai
ka Kanojo ka Erabenai), published in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from April 2017
to August 2020. That series ran for a total of nine compiled volumes and was
fully translated into English by Kodansha USA Publishing.
With the
closing of Irozuku Monochrome, Uchiyama brings to a close a story that
challenged conventions and offered a unique approach to the romance genre,
leaving his readers eagerly awaiting his next project.
