Natsumi Ito's manga My Dear Detective: Mitsuko's Case Files (Kimi wa Nazotoki no Macherie) is nearing its conclusion. According to the eighth compiled book volume released on May 29, the story will conclude with the release of its ninth volume.

A Detective Who Defies Her Time

The story follows Hoshino Mitsuko, a determined and hardworking woman in 1930s Japan, a time when career women were frowned upon. Despite societal pressure to stay home, Mitsuko is determined to make a name for herself as a private detective.

Her life takes an unexpected turn when the handsome waiter Yoshida Saku offers her her first solo case. Together, they form a peculiar duo that faces various mysteries while dealing with the turbulent atmosphere of the Showa era.

A Farewell Amidst International Success

The manga began serialization in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine in May 2021, and later moved to the Web Action website on October 18. Since July 2022, the series has been available digitally through the Azuki service, while Seven Seas handles its print distribution in English.

In fact, the third physical volume in English is scheduled for release on June 10, bringing this elegant detective story to an ever-wider audience outside of Japan.

With a strong female protagonist and a carefully crafted historical setting, My Dear Detective has offered a fresh take on the mystery genre. Its impending finale leaves fans with high expectations for how its intriguing narrative will conclude.
