This Monday
it was officially confirmed that the light novel series Oni no
Hanayome ( The Ogre's Bride ), written by Kureha ,
will have a television anime adaptation . The announcement was
made through the official X account (formerly Twitter), generating great
expectations among the work's followers.
To
celebrate the news, both manga artist Jun Togashi and the
original novels' illustrator, Yū Shiroya , shared commemorative
illustrations that have been very well received by the fan community.
A
supernatural romance that has conquered thousands
Oni no
Hanayome takes
place in a Japan where humans and demons coexist in harmony .
The protagonist, Yuzu , is a high school girl who lives in the
shadow of her older sister, who was chosen as a demon's bride. Everything
changes when a handsome ogre appears in her life and claims
her as his future wife, thus unleashing a story full of romance, mystery, and
supernatural elements.
The saga
has been a true publishing phenomenon, reaching more than 5.8 million
copies in circulation between the novels and their manga adaptation.
From
paper to screen: success after success
The light
novel began publication in 2019 through Starts Publishing 's Novema! platform
, where it even won the grand prize in the publisher's first
character-based short story contest . The sixth volume was
released on January 10 .
The manga
adaptation, by Jun Togashi , began serializing in Noicomi magazine
in December 2021. It quickly won the hearts of female readers, earning
first place in Noicomi's annual girls' comics rankings in 2022 and
2023. The manga's seventh compiled book volume will be published
on June 13 .
With a
solid fan base and an engaging universe that blends the supernatural with
youthful romance, Oni no Hanayome promises to be one of the
standout series in its television debut. The premiere date and animation
studio in charge of the project have not yet been confirmed, so please
