This Monday, through  Hakusensha 's Manga Park application, the final chapter of Kakumo Chiisaki Sekai ni te ( In Such a Small World ), the most recent work by Natsuki Takaya , recognized worldwide as the author of Fruits Basket , was published .

The story revolves around Sui Onodera , a 23-year-old man who lives a solitary life in his apartment. Everything changes when his neighbor, Kaoru Seto , suddenly bursts in explaining that his dog, Tino , has mysteriously ended up on Sui's balcony. From that unexpected encounter, Kaoru begins to become a part of Sui's daily life, beginning a touching story of bonds and closeness.

A short but significant story

The manga launched in September 2023 and was originally planned to have 10 chapters . However, the author slightly expanded the number, reaching a full 11 chapters , not counting the prologue and epilogue . The first and last chapters were split into four parts each .

It has been confirmed that the work will be compiled into two physical volumes , which will be published in Japan in the fall of 2025 .

Natsuki Takaya's legacy lives on

Fruits Basket , Takaya's most iconic work, was serialized between 1998 and 2006, and has multiple anime adaptations, including a full version aired between 2019 and 2021 , as well as the Fruits Basket -prelude- film released in February 2022 .

Additionally, Takaya also wrote a sequel titled Fruits Basket Another , published between 2015 and 2022, and has developed other works such as Liselotte & Witch's Forest and Twinkle Stars .

With In Such a Small World , the author once again demonstrates her unique sensitivity for portraying intimate, everyday human relationships, cementing her place as one of the most beloved creators in shojo manga.
