This
Friday, Kadokawa shared a new promotional video for the
anime "See You Tomorrow at the Food Court" (Food
Court by, Mata Ashita.), an adaptation of Shinichirō Nariie's manga.
The second trailer not only offers a glimpse of previously unreleased scenes,
but also reveals the ending theme titled "Tonari
Awase" (Side by Side), performed by voice actresses Hiyori
Miyazaki and Yoshino Aoyama, who bring the protagonists to
life.
Premiere date and broadcast details
The anime
will make its debut in Japan on Sunday, July 7 at 3:30 p.m. (Spanish
time) through Tokyo MX. That same day it will also be
available on the Japanese platform ABEMA. The series will
have six episodes in total. Additionally, Crunchyroll confirmed
that it will stream the anime globally, although an exact premiere date on the
platform has not yet been announced.
An unexpected but endearing duo
The story
follows Wada, an exemplary and reserved student, and Yamamoto,
an intimidating fashionista with dyed hair and a rebellious attitude. Despite
their opposing personalities, they both meet every day in the food
court of a shopping mall, where they can be themselves without pretending
anything. Between casual chats and everyday moments, the series explores an
unexpected friendship in a setting that is as common as it is comforting.
The anime
is directed by Kazuomi Koga (Rent-A-Girlfriend, Kubo
Won't Let Me Be Invisible), while Jukki Hanada (Sound!
Euphonium, Love Live!) supervises the script. Kyuta
Sakai is in charge of character design and animation direction. The
music is composed by Kana Utatane, with Jin Aketagawa in
the sound direction. The opening theme, on the other hand, is titled "Mikansei
ni Matataite" and is performed by Oisicle Melonpan.
A manga
with a particular story
The
original manga was published on the Comic Newtype site
since March 2020. However, it went on hiatus in January
2021 and did not resume publication until September 2022.
The first compilation volume, which includes the first 15 chapters, was
released in March 2021. The most recent chapter, number 23, was
published on December 13. In parallel, a second volume was released
under the title Food Court by Mata Ashita. Season 2 on March
31.
The
publisher Yen Press distributes the manga in English, where it
has been well received for its modern aesthetic and its focus on the small
moments of everyday life between friends who, although different, complement
each other in a charming way.
