The anime adaptation of Saka Mikami's manga Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku (also known as The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity) has released a new promotional video revealing important details about its premiere.

The anime will premiere on July 5 at 12:30 a.m. (i.e., at 12:30 a.m. on July 6, local time in Japan) on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11. Netflix also confirmed that it will stream the series in Japan on the same day.

Opening and Ending Themes: Emotions on the Surface

The trailer also reveals the anime's main themes:

Opening: "Manazashi wa Hikari" (The Gaze Is a Light), performed by Tatsuya Kitani.

Ending: “Hare no Hi ni” (On a Sunny Day), by Ushio Reira.

Both songs reinforce the romantic and poignant tone of this story between two opposing worlds.

A love that defies social differences

The story follows Rintarō Tsumugi, a second-year student at Chidori High, an all-boys school with a bad reputation and low academic standards. One day, while helping out at his family's bakery, he meets Kaoruko Waguri, a kind girl with whom he forms an immediate connection.

Everything seems to be going well… until Rintarō discovers that Kaoruko is a student at Kikyo Girls' High, a prestigious all-girls school nearby, frequented by girls from wealthy families. This revelation complicates things, as their respective worlds are separated by more than just a school fence. Will these two young people be able to find their own path amidst prejudices, obstacles, and social conflicts?

The series is directed by Miyuki Kuroki (Her Blue Sky) at CloverWorks, with Satoshi Yamaguchi as associate director. The scripts are by Rino Yamazaki (Akebi's Sailor Uniform), while Kōhei Tokuoka is in charge of character design and animation direction. The music is composed by Moeki Harada.

A work with great editorial support

The original manga has been published since October 2021 on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket platform. To date, 16 volumes have been collected in Japan, while Kodansha USA released the seventh volume in English this month. With a delicate and visually appealing story, Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku promises to be one of the most emotional offerings of the summer season.
