The July
issue of Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy magazine has
confirmed that the manga Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Koritsu-hen (The
Irregular at Magic High School: Isolation Arc), illustrated by Tsuna
Kitaumi, will come to an end in the next issue, with publication scheduled
for Thursday, July 18.
This manga
adapts volume 23 of the popular light novel series written
by Tsutomu Satou, and was released in the magazine in February
2023. So far, Square Enix has collected two volumes of the manga, the most
recent published in September 2024.
A
franchise that continues to expand with new adaptations
Despite the
closure of this arc, The Irregular at Magic High School franchise
(Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei) continues to be in full swing. The most recent manga
adaptation is Invasion Arc, which adapts volume 26 and was released
on May 16 under the art of Hazumi Takeda. The same
author completed his adaptation of volume 19, entitled Masaki Ichijō
Transfers Schools Arc, in April.
The series
of original novels was published between 2008 and 2020, with a total of 32
volumes. Two sequels were subsequently released in October 2020 and January
2021, cementing its status as one of the longest and most beloved works of
the isekai and magical science fiction genre.
The
anime is still alive and preparing new installments
The
animated adaptation of Mahouka debuted in April 2014 with
a 26-episode first season. It was followed by a second season in October
2020 and a third that has been on the air since April 2024.
In addition, a new film based on the Yotsuba
Succession arc has been confirmed, which will be released in the
winter of 2025.
The
franchise also includes the film The Girl Who Summons the Stars (2017)
and the spinoff The Honor Student at Magic High School, which had
its own animated adaptation in July 2021. With the end of the Isolation arc
in sight, fans still have a lot of content ahead of them to continue exploring
the world of Mahōka.
